Product Updates
Joomla 5.2.2 Compatibility for JA Templates, Bug Fixes, and More

Hello,

I have installed JA Image Hotspot on my website (cannot provide the URL because the project is behind an authentication password). I am not a coder and am somewhat familiar with Joomla.

I set up the module and added some pointers to an image. The pointers appear on the page, but when hovering the mouse on a pointer, the text does not appear. Also, the pop-up does not appear when the pointer is clicked.

I tried setting the text to appear all the time, not just on hover, and this did not help, so I have set it back to text appearing on hover.

What are the possible reasons for the text and the pop-up not appearing?

Any help is appreciated.

    brilfac Hi. Please provide an access to site and url in the private field during an edit of the first post. Please let me know when You'll add it.

      Hi, It's going to be tough for me to provide access to the site because it is behind an authentication login which I have been told not to provide.

      I hope that is not a requirement for getting help with your products.

      All I want to know is whether there is some settings I missed, or any advice on what might make the text and pop-up not appear.

      Your company doesn't seem to offer any individual help with the products. Is that true?

      Hello,

      Our CTO looked at the Image Hotspot module and noticed that JQuery was specified with the "$" instead of being spelled out. He thought this was either done by mistake, or that someone assumed that JQuery was specified in other modules you sell (JA Image Hotspot is the only Joomlart extension installed on the website). Please take a look at the attached screen grab and let me know if you can fix this.

        There maybe conflict in JS of this module with one of extensions installed on your site, try to disable one by one to find that one which causes issue.

          1. Have you ever tried the recommended method of specifying JQuery fully instead of with the "$" designation?

          2. Was jQuery specified as "$" by mistake in JA Image Hotspot,, or did someone assume that JQuery is specified in other modules that your company sells?

            brilfac

            Share us the credentials of your site: URL, Admin + FTP account , we will check what's causing issue here.

            Hello,

            As I stated in my previous post, I cannot provide that level of access to the site because it is behind an authentication login, which I have been told not to provide to parties outside the United States.

            We found no conflicts so far with our own extensions.

            Also, please provide your response to my two questions from my previous post:

            1. Have you ever tried the recommended method of specifying JQuery fully instead of with the "$" designation?

            2. Was jQuery specified as "$" by mistake in JA Image Hotspot,, or did someone assume that JQuery is specified in other modules that your company sells?

            Thank you.

            Can the JA Image Hotspot module be made to work within a Gantry-based template?

            If so, what adjustments do we need to make, if any?

              brilfac Hi.

              1. We do use one better, the whole blocks are using no jQuery.noConflict:

                jQuery.noConflict();
                (function( $ ) {
                    // Your jQuery code here, using the $
                })( jQuery );

                so it acts like separated blocks.

              2. I do have a copy of Gantry based site and just installed JA Image Hotspot and indeed not all the images are recognised correctly, but I've found out that it's not only due to the framework itself, a template has a great deal to it, so it will not be possible to solve this issue with a look and some work in code itself, so we will need an access to ftp or a copy of site to make this work.

              Thank you for your response.

              What do you think the problem might be, so I can explain to my CTO? He would feel better if he could fix it himself, due to security issues.

                brilfac Hi. In my opinion problem is with images being shown in article pages. I'm guessing there is an override to the article layout view in template and the scheme of that layout is not supported by our plugin since it has been changed from default view. You can check it by renaming folders /html/com_content or /html/com_k2 to something else which will force using default files.

                It's just my guessing, hopefully the test mentioned will show if I'm right.

                We are testing a solution today. Will let you know if we got JA Image HotSpot working.

                  brilfac Hi. Ok, great to her that. Please let me know when You will check it so if I'm wrong I will be able to start looking for a different reason.

                  We were able to make the pop-ups display on the map (there were no overrides that would be the cause of the problem, though, it turned out to be something else).

                  JA Image Hotspot is not working yet.

                  Now, the issue is that we cannot get the module to appear on the page for registered users.

                  The page is set to be visible to logged-in registered users -- but the module does not display for registed users. The page shows the template header and footer, but the hotspot module does not appear in the body of the page. The header and footer actually touch - no space for the module.

                  Currently, the module displays only for logged-in admin users.

                  Do you have any suggestions for what would make the module not display for logged-in registered users even if it is set to display for them?

                  Thanks for your help.

                    brilfac Hi. I'm afraid I've never heard about a situation like that. Please tell me the exact url to the page where You have such problem and attach user credentials I will be able to test it for and also super user so will be able to check settings. To include those user access please edit first post and put it into the black fields, so it will be visible for JA support only.
