JA K2 Filter Component SEO SEF URL's

Good evening/Morning,
I might have missed this setting, but can you let me know how to set custom or some form of default SEF urls without customizing the htaccess or setting permanent rewrites?

I do have Joomla's default SEF enabled, and no other issue with search or other links that come from components and modules.

Current: http://test.ifstudios.us/component/jak2filter/?Itemid=586&issearch=1&isc=1&tags_id[0]=2&category_id=20,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,19,16,17,18,21,22,23
Desired Affect: http://test.ifstudios.us/wiki/search=

sarrene Hi. I'm afraid I see no way of getting rid of this. Even with .htaccess scripts it will be really hard, since You will need to think about lots of possible scenerios. I'm sorry but I do not think we will be able to help with this request.

If we could just replace the ' ../component/jak2filter/..' with '../wiki/search/..' or '../wiki/filter/..' that would be great.

I find it odd that you cannot select a main menu item at least to replace the 'component' part. I do welcome any thoughts or ideas on this.

If not I will have to find another module or something that will work. I have already tried a few that do use a selected menu item for the sef url, however the functionality is no where near this one.

sarrene Hi. I'm afraid I was not able to come out with a solution to that. I can change the url in htaccess, but I always end up on 404 page not found. I would really like to help, but looks like without some mappint extension like sh404sef this will not be possible. maybe one of my collegues will be able to help.

Thank you so much for the assistance and looking into it.
I will not use sh404sef due to the overhead and the resource hog it has. There are others out there that are much better, cleaner and lighter weight server side; which means better performance out the door. It also has a few security issues as well with it that have not been adjusted after many years. (My apologies to anyone here that might have worked on sh404sef, I mean no disrespect.)

I would be interested to see how some of the others handle the sef urls compared to the one here at JA. I also wonder if some of this is due to some of the recent changes in Joomla and how it handles it. I know it has much improved over the last year and a half, and j4 is suppose to be even better.

Anyways, I am off on a tangent and just thinking out loud. I wish I had the time to actually dig into this myself. I know it is a well needed add on to k2 that many could really use.

I will ask around as well and see what I can find. Looking forward to hearing back with any info or updates.

Hi Sarr,

How about using the 'Ajax Filter' in the module settings? when enabling this feature, it will use Ajax submit instead of default form submit and the URL keeps the same.

It is a temporary fix. Thank you. I did completely miss that option. Will report how this works one i get the rest finished. .. eventually i need some sleep!
