Frontpage not showing (Features Intro)

Dear Joomlart Team,

i have build a new Site with youre Social II Template.

Everything works fine till i have changed the Brand Primary Color in Theme Magic.
After i have changed the color and save as our own Theme the front-page crashed.

I have deinstalled and reinstalled the Template again and try to change the color again and the same happened.

I have made 2 copy´s of the Ja_Social_II - Standard Template (Default and Features Intro) but this doesnt help.

The home-page doesnt comeback. :-(

If i go to Templates->Ja_Social_II - Features Intro->Theme Magic the frontpage shows as it needed but not if i open the site.

Please check urgent and answer me.

Hi There,

I can see you have an index.html file in the root of the site which is stopping theme magic from displaying the layout

I've renamed this file to index2.html - can you try re-creating your template style now

I do also not the php version is 5.3.29 which is just below the minimum specification for T3
I would strongly suggest you update the php version even if it is just php5.6

Hi Paul,

the index.html is only for "security" reason so the site is not visible for the visitors. Thats why i have to wrote please open the index.php . So i have to rename it again to index.html!

The PHP Version cannot be the Problem, because i have test the JA Social II Full Installation package local with MAMP and php 5.3 and without custom changes it works fine.

But if i change the Brand Primary Color in Theme Magic the Frontpage crashed again.

OK, i will try it with a newer php Version local with MAMP and comeback to you.

Dear Saguaros,

this is the start-page with the Ja_Social_II - Default Template. The Ja_Social_II - Features Intro template is not active and i dont know why.
If you go to Templates->Ja_Social_II - Features Intro->Theme Magic the start-page which i want to use shows right. But not in real.

Thats my problem.

I have clear my browser cache now (chrome) but when i open the index.php

I have set the "Ja_Social_II - Features Intro" Template as default and this works fine with the frontpage.
You are right!

But in youre documentation you wrote the "Ja_Social_II - Default" or "Ja_Social_II - Standard" need to be set as default Template.
The "Ja_Social_II - Features Intro" only set in the "Home" menu tab as used Template.

Yes, If the specific template is assigned as default. Tried in both - firefox and chrome. Earlier screengrab was taken from firefox.

Also, You may wish to check the same on another machine

i think i have made a big mistake now :-(

OK about youre question:

i want to use the features intro template for the index page (home) and the deafult template (layout) for all other pages.

We have install now PHP 7 through a htaccess file.
I have deinstalled all Ja_Social_II Templates now and reinstall the 1.08 Version new.

As i want to made custom changes in the template i cannot change the layout now.
Does the template use own SQL tables? maybe there is a problem with them and it is better we delete those tables before reinstall again.

Can you please install the newest Version about the Ja_Social_II Template for me?

michael001 Not really sure as to what custom changes do you wished to make in the specific template for which you wished to change the layout.

Specific Sql tables arent required to be dropped/altered/edited e.t.c when Joomla admin panel gives you the option to uninstall/install the template with ease.

michael001 I have tried the similar steps outlined in documentation in my local install and it works fine when we perform steps outlined for Build Home Page

Kindly try to re-install the template again as I could see some files missing in your current install due to which layout structure also isnt seen in sub-tab layout for the duplicate template (Ensure to take backup if changes have been done)

michael001 Or better yet, Please install quickstart package as this will give you replica of the demo site which you can customize and configure further accordingly for particular extensions, layouts e.t.c.

I have delete the T3 plugin and the J_Social Template and reinstall both again but this wont help.

Maybe the template have a problem with Joomla 3.8 (7) ???

yes, but if i install the quickstart i need to build and create all from the beginning. And this means 5 days work is for a trash.....
Or is there a chance to copy the database tables?

It shouldnt be an issue as I have Joomla ver. 3.8.7 with similar template and it works fine

Otherway, Can I take backup of the site and try examine the same on local?

of course. Yes you can do it.
I hope you can find the failure. Sorry but i have worked so much and the template chrashed when i change the color in Theme Magic.

try it in a clean installation to please. Change the color and look what happened.

Hi Aman,

I can help you. There is a bug in the template.
The reason for this big trouble is jomsocial. If you activate the chat function the JA_Socialize Template crashed.
I have deactivated the Chat in Jomsocial and everything works fine!
I use the latest jomsocial 4.5.1

Another Bug is, if you install Jomsocial to youre quickstart package, the jomsocial menu was NOT installed. So the jomsocial toolbar is empty. I have try to install jomsocial on a clean Joomla installation and this works perfect.

I think you need to publish an update for this template.
So this case is now solved.
