GOOGLE MAPS - Suddenly not working

Hi,

Google maps isnt't working anymore on my websites created with JA Builder. The error is "This page can't load google maps correctly. I assume it has something to do with the API key. The key was automatically there when I added te google maps block a year ago.

I created my own API key and inserted it in the block. When I publish it, they API key isn't changed on the live website. When i Inspect it in Chrome the old key is still there. Does it have to anything with my free account?

Don't tell me I need a payed account to add/change they API key please.

improvid Hi. Most probably You are using some kind of cache on joomla/page/server which is not releasing the changes. Please make sure to clear it and see than.

If it's not the case try to work with the old API key. Google Maps changed their policy about payments, so I think You may need to add a payment option for old API to work.

Thx for the quick response, I have cleared all the cache in the joomla backend, unfortunately it makes no difference. Don't you think it has anything to do with it being a premium block, maybe that's why I can't save it?

I can't work with the old API key, since it it's not mine. It was automatically there when I first added the block I think.

Looking at your html code it seems you are using a map with a hidden class ( not visible ) which is loading a different api key from your visible map

The error message coming from your api key is

js?key=+++++++++++++++++++++++zz7exc&=1538497878781:49 You have exceeded your request quota for this API. See https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/error-messages?utm_source=maps_js&utm_medium=degraded&utm_campaign=billing#api-key-and-billing-errors

and it is referred to the hidden module key

Do you have any idea where I can change the other API key? I have changed one key directly in the contact Block options in the front-end.

Please edit your first post and add to it a super user account to your backend , we will have a look at your settings and answer with the solution at it.

You should set correctly the API Key which latest characters are oRxRQ3CctSID8 from Google API console

I have setup the new API key and pasted it into the JA-builder Google maps block. Still not working. the browser outputs the error on another key in the developer console? Is my key overwritten by the old key maybe?

You have a google map in the contact block as you can see below, despite it is hidden it has a different API Key -

Disable it removing the Api key and hide it
