Is it possible to not show any info in tabs? I want the Activity Stream, Description, About Me, etc. on all pages to show all the time without having to click on tabs.

vincebodie The Jomsocial template has been constructed to show various content into separate panes for varied pages as there are several advantages attached to them in terms of providing better User Interface (UI) design and viewability along with reaching specific information faster. Several features of using tabs for various sections in layout are also outlined here as also being used by popular social networking site like Facebook

Its not logical to show information on all tabs all time as user needs to navigate to a different tab to get the information.

I strongly disagree. I believe that people are missing a lot of good info because they aren't noticing the tabs. I want everything visible all the time so that people can see everything that is happening on the page without having to do any more clicking once they are on the page.

we have not got any request for this till now, Its not easy so change the Jomsocial layout that already buit and widely used. It needs many changes in core and system does not allow such changes easily.
I am afraid its something out of support scope.

It seems that it would just be a matter of a new template design, right? Or is the layout buried deeper in core files? I haven't even looked.

Its need change in the core layout and define changes in the core code so it will open all information as you needed. Its not easy to get it done, i suggest you to hire a developer for such custom work tasks.
