We have setup the cron job and reminder emails

I have also loaded the url /components/com_dtregister/cron.php into the browser to manually execute it. But get a blank screen.

Is there a field in the database that is set once the emails are sent?

Is there a log or debug mode that tell me it has been executed.

We have it set to 1 day before event and had 3 records registered 2 days before the event
No emails seem to have been trigger the day before the event. Are they trigger on the midnight.

    There is a queue of mails. You can see that in database, but I'm not sure if it will be checked on execution, so it would be better to see why white screen is appearing.

    Do You have SMTP configured in global joomla configuration?
