Subheadings not displaying correctly

I copied the template and the subheadings on some of the modules are not displaying correctly. For example: TPL_SUBTITLE_WHAT_WE_DO Also, how do I edit the subheading when they are displaying correctly??

I'm still having the problem where it's posting incorrectly. for instance it is showing TPL_SUBTITLE_WHAT_WE_DO
I use a module title that differs from the demo. I added the line TPL_SUBTITLE_WHAT_WE_DO = "FOOBAR" to en-GB.tpl_ja_onepage.ini

It seems that it's only possible to use subheading, or tips message as you call them, if the module title is the same as the demo. Is that correct?

UPDATE: changing the text in the modules with the stock titles does not change the tip. Also, I used grep to search all files in the template for the string and the only file that came up was FOOBAR" to en-GB.tpl_ja_onepage.ini so that's the only place it could be pulling it from. Give me a hand. I've spent a lot of time on this over the course of a few days, even reinstalling joomla now.

charlessteiner Hi. Functionality of subtitles is being help in /html/modules.php file so it means that not evey module can use it, only ones with style of "onepage". Where exactly You are trying to use it? Maybe You need to overwrite the style in layout first.

PS: Title does not have to be same as in demo. It only needs to be present and enabled in order to show subtitles.

charlessteiner Try change the file i.e./templates/ja_onepage/html/modules.php to chmod 755 or 777 as I have tried replicating the same in local install however the functionality of language parameter is working fine even with changing module title and thereon, adding its language variable

I changed permissions of /templates/ja_onepage/html/modules.php to 777 and it's not displaying correctly on my install.

When I change variables in language/en-GB shown here: https://www.joomlart.com/documentation/joomla-templates/ja-onepage#create-onepage nothing changes. It seems to be pulling it from elsewhere.

Please advise.

It seems that the translation for the subtitle text is missing, I just tried to override it via Backend > Extensions > Language(s) > Overrides: http://prntscr.com/lap23c

and it works

You can edit this constant TPL_SUBTITLE_WHAT_WE_DO to your own text.

what is the exact path from webroot of the file that you are editing?

There are two en-GB.tpl_ja_onepage.ini and they both seem to effect display.

Look at the changes I made in the file then look at how it is rendered.

The files hasnt been been updated to get the respective change.

As the translation for specific subtitle text isnt being rendered after being added in this file : en-GB.tpl_ja_onepage.ini located in: language/en-GB, The translation for subtitle text has been done through constants (language override) as outlined here which is even more safer and doesnt get override while updating Joomla in mere future

You may change the constant accordingly as also suggested by @saguaros

It shouldnt probably get overwritten if template is updated however if Joomla version is updated, The language string can get overwritten so you are always at an advantage if adding language translation overrides through core Joomla functionality 🙂

Some excerpt from the documentation being quoted thereafter :

This may seem like a hard way of doing it rather than simply editing the language string files - but the advantage is that when you perform an update an extension/Joomla these strings won't get overwritten and generally, it's easier to do it this way once than it is to do it every time Joomla/the extension gets updated and having to edit the .ini file again.
