Fatal Error 0 Using $this when not in object context

Hi,

When I try to update this site from php 7.0 to 7.1 or 7.2 I get a white screen on the front end of the site and this error message: "Fatal Error 0 Using $this when not in object context"

I have updated every extension and we are running the latest version of joomla.

It's running the latest ja social II template and T3

I found this post with a similar problem: https://github.com/joomla/joomla-cms/issues/21258

It suggested the template was causing the problem.

Could you take a look please?

Hi, you can't see the issue because I'm still on php 7.0 as soon as i change to 7.1 or 7.2 then I get the blank screen.

Hi, I've replicated the site to a testing server because I cant take the live site down and wait for you to have a look.

I've changed the php version to 7.1 so that you can see the error.

I'll update the testing site access details for you.

When I change from php 7.0 to 7.1 the whole site goes down with the error message that you saw displayed.

I had left it running on 7.1 so you could see the error message that you requested in the above posts.

I have now changed it back to 7.0 so you can see the site.

Hi Dean,

You can try this way in the test site:
- Disable any 3rd pary extension on your site
- Switch default template to a standard template of Joomla
- Switch PHP 7.1 again and see how it goes.

This way will help to find out which one caused issue.
