Starting with editing the existing events in the system from the quickstart. All events are now gone, the events page now shows this. Also is this not the DT register component?

If you are referring to THIS TEMPLATE VERSION Then you should install DT Donate component.

Ok so to the original issue. The /events page is not showing. The category is active and there were events assisgned to that category. But when you click the link or type it in it directs to this error page shown above.
Solved
I found the issue. In the demo there are two categories with the same name and they are both used, but not made unique. The documentation misses the the break down of which module is which, and that they are using different categories.
