Impossible to update to J3.9 and to PHP 7.0+

Hi, updating Joomla causing a lot of issue in the top header, login, navbar area for the first look.
Some of the JA components are not up to date now as I rolled it back to 3.8.13.
It is also impossible to update the PHP version over the "oldie" 7.0. :/

As apparently seen, JA Platon is soon to be updated for Joomla 3.9 as you can kindly view the recent blogs to know as to which all templates have been updated for latest version of Joomla

To be precise, Can you elaborate exactly on the relative issues being faced or better yet, Kindly share screenshots marked with annotations of the same

It is also impossible to update the PHP version over the "oldie" 7.0. :/

Again, Please elaborate exactly on issue being faced or you are getting some error ?

Months ago I asked it in Premium Ticket but JA suggested me to ask my webspace provider.
Webspace provider said it caused by a plugin what I must search for.
Just turned off all the plugins but resulted the same:

Warning: session_start(): Failed to read session data: user (path: /opt/alt/php72/var/lib/php/session) in /home/domain/public_html/libraries/joomla/session/handler/native.php on line 260
Error: Failed to start application: Failed to start the session

palosutca You may change the PHP version so as to troubleshoot the relative issue as mentioned however kindly ensure that you let the PHP version update stay for sometime when the issue is being investigated or can create a staging (clone) site with PHP version updated

Also, Kindly add your ftp details too in edit fields in order to take closer look

palosutca Having reviewed the specific ticket, Would suggest to try the troubleshooting steps as outlined here and here pertaining to error being shown after upgrading php version

Thanky you, I read through the linked posts and I believe this is out of my territory!
The Webspace provider is pointing Joomla (You) and you are pointing the provider. I am translating between both of you.

This site was working well since 2016 and installed with your Quickstart package!

I am afraid of that you are right.
I have made a clean Joomla install via Installatron and it is okay with PHP 7.0 but getting blank screen with error when switched to PHP 7.1 or 7.2.

palosutca As the issue still persists with Default Joomla Template, It apparently could be related to server not configured properly for Joomla

You may also post in Joomla.org forum or seek assistance from the hosting provider providing them the specific redirection links which I had posted above. You may primarily try for solution in relation to configuration.php file which has helped others in resolving somewhat similar type of issue

I feel a bit more clever now 😉
When you change the PHP version the MySQLi is not automatically ticked and/or it is not necessary with earlier PHP versions such as the 5.6. After ticking MySQLi the issue gone. Hopefully it helps for others too!

(well, the Joomla contact module was crying for the thicking)

Wanted to appraise that JA Platon latest version - 1.0.8 can be downloaded and installed as the same has been updated for Joomla 3.9.1 compatibility along with bug fixes 🙂

Upgrade Method:
You can install new version directly over the current version. Uninstallation is not required.

Would suggest to also take backup of your site before performing aforesaid steps, in case rollback required whilst facing any issues e.t.c
