Template changes get over ridden by template update

I'm making the following change below in /templates/ja_diner/tpls/default.php by remove / comment this line of code:

<?php $this->loadBlock('header') ?>

Can this be added to custom.css so template updates wont overide it.

What do I need to put in custom.css

Thanks for the the update and reference to the documentation. With my little knowledge of Joomla the ref doc does not mean a lot, so I will need to start reading and try to make sense of it.

Hi Eddie,

There are 2 ways to override that file: /templates/ja_diner/tpls/default.php

1) As Pavit suggested above, you can create a new folder called local in template directory and copy the default.php file there: /templates/ja_diner/local/tpls/default.php and customize as you wish.
2) Or you can duplicate default.php file and rename to have a new file: /templates/ja_diner/tpls/default-2.php > customize this file and go to Backend > Extensions > Templates > Layout tab > change to default-2 layout (the new one you created)
