How to configure & display the latest GK Weather 1.8 module

For the latest GK Weather 1.8 module you need to get an App ID, Client ID (Consumer Key) and a Client Secret (Consumer Secret) codes from Yahoo.

Go to: https://developer.yahoo.com and create an account or log in to your existing account if you have one.
When you are logged into your account click on the “Create an App” button. You may be redirected to the main Yahoo information page when you log in, if this is the case input “developer yahoo” into the search box and select the search term to get to your account.
On the Create Application page, input an “Application Name”, e.g. GK Weather.
Make sure the "Application Type" radio button is selected as “Web Application”
You can ignore the Description (Optional), Home Page URL (Optional) and Callback Domain (Optional), as these are not required.
Click on the “Create App” button at the bottom of the page.
After a few moments your App ID, Client ID (Consumer Key) and a Client Secret (Consumer Secret) codes are generated.
Input the generated codes into the Basic Settings area of the GK Weather Module in the back end of your website, for example: Yahoo App ID = App ID, Consume Key = Client ID (Consumer Key) and Consume Secret = Client Secret (Consumer Secret)
Under the Layout section area of the GK Weather module in the back end of your website, you can select icons from the “Iconset” field for your preferred weather symbol display. Under the General Settings section, your WOEID can remain unchanged.
Save your settings and view the module in the front end.

Unfortunately, Yahoo Weather API has been retired: https://developer.yahoo.com/weather/

I will pass to the team for further checking on this, maybe need another API

Hello saguaros,

I was not aware that the weather API had been retired. However, it appears that it is not required for the weather module. Below is a screenshot of the weather module on my site today (31.01.19) and it is displaying as it should, after getting the required codes, as described above, from Yahoo.

Dear Moderator teitbite!

In what way is the GK Weather Module not functioning? I have given a guide above, in this thread, on how to configure the module, yet you and the other moderator "saguaros" seem to ignore this fact. Why is this? Here is the latest display of the weather module on my site, as of today 06.03.2019:

Please inform your users/subscribers that the module is functional.

bazab Hi. Here is a message from a page where Yahoo Weather API was before:

Important EOL Notice: As of Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, the weather.yahooapis.com and query.yahooapis.com for Yahoo Weather API will be retired.

They will change it to a different server as I've seen in the forum, but I do not think it works yet. I believe we will update the extension as soon as this will be valid.

I got my GK Weather working with the guide bazab made. Thanks, I was stuck on 6th and 7th January.

It was hard to find the 1.8.0 version tho.

ang-iuly Hi. Yes, I can confirm that Yahoo has switched to a different API and developers has adjusted it lately. I believe the problem will not occur since now.
