Missing domain name in social media links.

Can't get the Social Media share icons to work. For example, URL for the facebook icon is: https://www.facebook.com/sharer/sharer.php?u=%2Fgli%2Findex.php%2Fabout-gli. That gives an invalid HREF since it is missing the website domain name.

First you should take a backup of site and update template to latest version https://www.joomlart.com/member/downloads/gavick/free-joomla-templates/portfolio
As your site is using very old version of template that is not ready for latest Joomla and does not has bug fixes and improved code.
The problem look like due to installation of site in subfolder and the URL is taken as name gli that is folder name,
can you assign a domain to this installation folder and check it.

The domain name is redirected to the gli directory in hosted site.

I updated the template. No joy.

Its in subdirectory at the moment, it should load under main domain, so the URL is picked on sharing to the name of domain, not the folder name.

glasstingimpressions.com points to the /public_html/gli folder.

if the domain the main domain is assigned to this folder.
the folder name should not show, either there is issue in your domain assignment or the redirection of domain pointed to wrong folder.
I try to replicate this issue in fresh template package but it works fine, till there is no subfolder
