How to update the template without loosing seetings

Hello,

since a lot of templates got updates, we plan to implement them. What we want to avoid is to lose settings (positions etc) as well as custom code like analytics.

What is the best procedure? Should we backup some individual files from the template in addition to the site backup?

Related to this: We also plan to change from one JB template to another. How can we make sure that we keep module published and module positions etc. since we have some quite complex layouts and many sub pages.

MaMuster Hi. Update will not remove/overwrite settings of templates or module positions. It's all stored in database which will not be changed. All the changes were done in files, so if any file was modified than please better make a backup of it before updating.

One more questions in regards:

I understood that the position of the modules are stored in the database.
But the active positions and their size (12/9/3) etc which I set in the template are stored in some file there, right?
Which file and can I port them easily over to a new template switching from JB old to JB new?

MaMuster Hi. Everything is stored in database. In a cell which has attributes for template style. So installing newer version of the template will show all previous settings.
