After update to joomla 3.8.8 0 - Using $this when not in object context

T3 BS3 Blank Template also in the quickstart package the same issue

It is not suggested to immediatly update joomla version if template compatibility is not verified , please if you have a backup then reinstalll your website again.

Did you try with the default Joomla template to see if the same error appears

I'm testing and seeing

Fatal error: Using $this when not in object context in ...\modules\mod_random_image\tmpl\default.php on line 16

Which is a core joomla module

I have T3 BS3 Blank installed on localhost, just updated to latest Joomla 3.8.8 and no issues at all. Everything worked. You may want to check your config settings or server settings. I'm having no issues with all JA templates.
