I'm using the Buildr template however when I view source code the meta description isn't showing. Do you know why this is and how is can be resolved please.
Meta Description Missing
- Edited
heather-king You may check by switching over to default Joomla template if Meta Description still doesnt show
Also, You can check in Google Webmaster Tools if the site is getting crawled or indexed as this could also be the reason for Meta Description not showing if the site isnt getting indexed properly
Thank you for your reply. On further investigation it seems to be something to do with the page builder that I'm using. Hopefully I can get the issue tracked down and rectified that end. Best wishes.
heather-king Hi. Actually meta description comes from joomla itself. Please make some tests and fill in the description field in one of the menu items to see if it will be used from this place. Let me know which url You will be testing it on and provide access data to FTP.
teitbite Thank you for your reply. I have filled in the description on the menu items but none seem to be showing, for example https://sylan-washrooms.uk/cubicle-ranges from the main menu. Thank you so much for helping with this, I really appreciate it.

heather-king I have filled in the description on the menu items but none seem to be showing, for example https://sylan-washrooms.uk/cubicle-ranges from the main men
Also, Could see that you are using Quix component which has been assigned for specific menu items with pages being generated through specific component
The Meta Description also doesnt show with default Joomla template assigned which hereby relate to core Joomla functionality. As suggested earlier, You may check in Google Webmaster Tools whether site is being crawled or indexed. Some reference links from this forum thread could act as guiding factor, too
I have checked with Google Webmaster and the site is being crawled. I'll try and figure out what is going on, thanks for your help.
heather-king Hi. I've tracked the code in meta tags are not being passed to joomla's
<head />
it doesn't matter what template is selected. The data are either not provided by joomla itself or they are being blocked by some plugin. I would recommend to unpublish all unneccessary plugins while checking the page with a Protostar template (default joomla one), till You will see description. If it will still not show than it would be case to report that to joomla developers.
teitbite Thank you very much for looking in to it for me, I really appreciate it. I'll try doing as you have suggested and hopefully I can get this rectified. Best wishes, Heather
heather-king Hi. Any news in this topic? Any luck running those test to determine the cause of Your problem?
teitbite Hi, thanks for asking, I've not had chance to investigate this any further. It's on my list of things to do this week and I'll let you know how I get on.
Best wishes, Heather
heather-king Hi. Ok, no hurry. Please just let me know when You'll be ready, so I'll be able to assist further.
teitbite It transpires that it was an issue with the Quix Page Builder I was using so I've had to reinput all the description in to their in built SEO system rather than doing it via the normal Joomla menu route. Thank you for all your help in this matter and sorry to put you to any trouble. Best wishes, Heather
