Yes I did, it should be no problem any more to enter the backend. I tried before to ensure, that the admin tools are not the reason for the problem but it had no effect and the protostar template is working, so it's not the matter of admin tools. viktoria2 Not sure about what changes or customizations had been done which resulted in "blank screen" however upon changing error reporting to "maximum", Error as seen in screenshot reflects.

As for initial troubleshooting measures :

1) Would suggest to download and re-install zengrid framework
2) Try to update to stable Php version 7x

Do ensure to take backup of your site before performing aforesaid steps, in case rollback required whilst facing any issues e.t.c

Thank you for that, I backup each day before start working so my last backup is from this morning. After I changed the domain routing I changed php version also. Only thing, because it runs on 5.6 is the old existing site running on joomla 2.5... With php 7 the system also ran before the crash.
I will try your recommendations and hope this will work.
My idea is to run the last backup local to safe my last template changes because that's what I dind't the last times I changed template settings. If something goes wrong and I could not fix the issue I think of uninstalling the template and start with a fresh template installation. In that case > is it possible to implement my custom template style? I do not mean custom.css and custom.less, that's clear that I can use the files, but the template settings I did in backend template design tab.

The uninstalling and reinstalling from zentools didn't work. I will now try to install a backup file local and see what I get...

The restoration local with xampp worked fine - frontend and backend were displayed correctly. But after changing a thing in template design in the backend template settings the frontend was destroyed. Don't know what but for me it looks like the best way is to uninstall buildr and start with a fresh new template installation. I can use my custom css and less. Don't know if I should try to import the theme style also? Is there any possibility to load a custom style of module positions and everything which I styled over the template design tab in the backend into the new template installation?

Kindly confirm if you have tried the suggestion provided here by Paul which should probably achieve the objective as envisaged if the steps are performed effectively. The same is being quoted here also for reference -

For this to work - you need to save the preset and the layout with a short unique name with no spaces or special characters

Once these are saved the update does not affect these files

Last stand:
I installed the backup local, uninstalled the template and made a fresh installation. After that everything worked fine. I installed my custom.less and custom.css and after that I rebuilt the template in the template designer.
After finishing my work I tried to save my custom style and the template crashed again 🙁
Now I have two ideas :
1. Could it be possible that the saving process of the template executes the error? Could this be part of the problem with the old php Version?
2. Or could it be the problem, that I put most of the grids all in one container? I stored them all (20 grid positions) in the main container. The site is build as a onepage website but with lots of content so that the onepage theme is not sufficient. Perhaps the saving process is to great and the error occurs? In this area I have not much knowledge but perhaps it is a hint for you...

My next step is to install a backup local with the new php version and start the process again - fresh template, make my changes, save my style and see what I get.

Please give me a note if you have an idea to my suggestions.

Backup installed local with php 7, tried again to save my settings in a style preset in template designer - this worked fine in backend but frontend destroyed again - screenshot.
Did I forget something? Do I have to implement my own css and less after saving my style? It seems that all of css is gone?

Hold on because we need a new starting point. Now I changed php Version to 7.2 and will uninstall template and framework. After that I start with fresh installation and will see how far I get. I will give a new reply when all is done and okay or same error occurs. Then we can have a look under real conditions in the live system.

Will await status from your end if the relative issue still persist of CSS addition in custom.css file getting removed with fresh installation

If the same persists, You may provide the details in order to troubleshoot as I have tried replicating the same on local install however such issue doesnt perists

Yes now you can see the error in the live site. You have all login and server data. Fresh template is installed but same issue from the beginning. In frontend no css style and in backend no module positions in template designer.

I finished my work for today. As I said I uninstalled framework and template in the live system, installed template and framework again hoping that everything is fine. But in frontend no css style loaded and backend template designer is broken (see screenshot) I tried to load or save any preset but this didn't work also (see screenshot).

It's quite a long discussion, do you have any backup of the last working version of current live site? try to copy the files from this directory: [root]/templates/buildr/settings/

to the associated directory in current site (remember to backup existing files first) and see how it goes.

Yes, thanks for the hint. I would have import the whole last well backup tomorrow - knowing that I would have lost two days of work but this is a quiet better way 😉 Make my backups everyday before starting my work.

Is there a possible connection of my inexpertly way of putting all grids in the main container with disregarding their original positions in the grid container where they were shown in the original?
Or can you give me another reason where the problem comes from?
It would help me to understand my mistake if I had made one and would save me from doing it another time.

Appending to suggestion by @saguaros, It is always appropriate to try and replace folder by folder from working backup - Parent template folder instead of replacing complete template folder which is also bit large in file size

1) As it helps to trace the exact folder/file which might have got corrupted henceforth resulting in avertable issue.
2) Also, It would make your troubleshooting edge faster 🙂
