Suggestion for JA Builder

Hopefully I am placing this in the right place.
I would like to see Customizing Spotlights or some way create a custom spotlight.
Be able to insert articles into custom blocks, besides widget/modules only.
JA Builder seems restrictive compare to others I have used in the past.
