Is there a way to use the expanding layout with gallery (custom gallery) for content, but have the information typed in the fields for each gallery content item show up in the expanding view of the layout? Also, currently when I hit the expanded view it shows a very large image (larger than the one clicked). I would like it to be much smaller and show text from the content gallery setup.

This is what I want to happen:
User clicks the image and sees text from the content fields which describes the image.
I'd like a link in the expanded view to link to a video also, but I want it to show in a light box rather than somewhere else.

There is limited documentation on using the layouts. It's mostly examples of how it works.

        I don't have a link because I am building the site locally on my computer first. However here is the link to an example of the expanding feature:

        Ideally I want to be able to not have the image repeated when it expands, but that may not be an option.
        If I have to keep the image in expanded view, I'd like the text to be to the left (wrap) of the image on the desktop like in the example, but I don't know how they did that in the example.
        I'd like to be able to click a link for the video in the expanded view, and have that happen in a lightbox.

        Some of these features seem like they may be possible, but I can't seem to get it to work.

        Ideally a user would click the image to reveal information, then click a link to play the video that the image represents.

        I tried using the gallery layout instead because there are fields for information, but the documentation on each of these content sources and how to use them is not thorough.

            With the "Expanding Preview" layout, You can have the configuration as seen in screenshot in in order to have similar output rendering as seen in documentation link with "additional column"

            The specific configuration can be seen in module parameters > Options > item layout

                    As apparently seen, Such functionality related to "image to be not shown again" isnt there in "Expanding Preview" layout and should require heaps of customizations and advanced coding to get the same so would suggest to kindly hire developer or agency if you wish to have this enhanced functionality in similar layout
