Error - The content exceeds allowed limits when saving Image Hotspot module

After updating to Joomla 3.9.6 I get an image whenever I try to save an JA ImageHotspot module:

Error
Save failed with the following error: The content exceeds allowed limits
I've seen this before and it ended up being a database issue where a field was too small. Any ideas?

I tried to replicate this issue on Joomla 3.9.6 with latest version of Module but there is no error http://prntscr.com/nmbnix
Can you check your server resource limits and consult it with your service provider.
Meanwhile you can put the site credentials in edit fields option in first post, I will have a look on your site to see the configurations.

Hello, I am currently experiencing this error as well.

I am using the JA ImageHotSpot module for multiple community maps. I am getting this error on a map that has 117 markers on it. I am unable to save any more.

Other maps on the same site have about half as many markers and I am able to add new ones with no problem.

When you tried to replicate this issue, how many markers did you put on the map?

wdiggles Hi. Each module stores all of it's settings in one field in database. With too may attributes its capacity may be exceeded. I believe it's what happened in Your case. Unfortunately this is how joomla is designed, so there is nothing we can do about that. Sorry.

Yeah. That is the conclusion we came to. We had changed the field in the database from a textfield to a textarea field which works, but Joomla hardcoded the field size check before sending to the database so our fix doesn't work any more.

It would take reworking the module on your end to get it to work correctly. 117 markers on one map really isn't that many.

Glad to hear you found a fix for this. I suggest you to share it on Joomla forum as its core change in Joomla.
Updating Joomla may override the field values.

Hello,
I also encounter this error with a smaller number of markers (80).
Changing the value of the "params" field of "mediumtext" to "longtext" does not correct the problem. I think there must be another cause.
