JA Directory quickstart localhost installation stall

Hi,

I'm running xampp 7.3.5 on my windows 8.1. Downloaded the latest version of JA Directory quickstart files. MySQL db collation is set to be utf8_general_ci. Installation stalls half way, with no error message, as shown below. I followed an online instruction to replace InnoDB with MyISAM in the joomla.sql file and installation can move forward, but then throws an error message saying "You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MariaDB server version for the right syntax to use near ' DROP TABLE IF EXISTS #__action_log_config' at line 1". This is quite different from what I remembered last time when the quickstart installation was supposed to be easy and straight forward. Kindly advise what I'm missing here. Thanks.

Since quickstart works fine as we tested without any error this is your xampp configuration issue, normally when the installation is stopped in this way it is due to some timeout setting not correctly set, try to increase timeout on your database.

You can try to install quickstart on a public host and you will see it works fine.
