What is T4 Timeline and upgrade path?

I've just purchased a 1 year subscription to templates and Page Builder.

What is the T4 development timeline
Will existing T3 templates be upgraded/migrated?
Will you be producing ONLY T4 templates once T4 is released?

As of now, we do not have exact date for stable version release coz more features are still under development. There would be few more versions before it goes stable so you can use for active website.

Will existing T3 templates be upgraded/migrated?
Will you be producing ONLY T4 templates once T4 is released?

There is still no detailed plan for this yet, will need to wait for the stable version of T4 released first. Then there will be announcement for T3 & T4 templates.

I didn't ask for a "release date". I was wondering if you have any kind of timeline of what you're working on and goals.

Something without specific dates would still be informative, and it doesn't really "lock" you into specific items. It might also allow you to gather additional feedback for which features are generating more "excitement", etc.

Hi,

I got your point but set the specific date for each release would be hard in this case as it would be dependent on the issues/wishlist/features requested that we receive then there will more testing to come, more implementation for new features.

As of now, Alpha 2 version was released, if everything goes fine, the beta version will be the next. Basically, in the beta version, we will finalize the main features of T4 framework. There will be more testing and maybe some other versions before it comes stable.

Perhaps we're using different definitions of "timeline"? A timeline does not require specific dates. Perhaps I should have used "Roadmap" instead, which is another word to describe a projected series of steps/goals/ideas when moving towards a goal.

I got your point but I'm afraid that there is no roadmap yet at this moment as it's still in development stage. I will share with the team for this also.

Is is safe to use on a active site? I thought its still in the test phrase and why I haven't really played around with it. Because new features may be added and some removed.

Here you state:

I am confused on what can be used and what can't be used on a live site!

For live site, it's best to wait for the RC or Stable version of T4.

In Alpha versions, everything is in development stage.

With Beta version, generally, all main features are complete but there are still known or unknown bugs and depend on the testing of this version.

For alpha or beta version, we recommend to test in test / staging site only.
