Can someone help me understand why the JA Directory template uses the JAK2 filter component "manage multi-level fields" categories?
In the K2 Extra Fields, you can create different types, such as a "multi-select list" type, which is easier and seems to produce the same result. It also allows me to choose multiple extra fields (states) on a K2 item. If I use the JAK2, I can only choose 1 extra field (example: state) on the k2 item. I can also create a search box module using the JAK2 without adding the extra fields to the JAK2 filter component manage multi fields.
So what is the point of adding the extra fields under the JAK2 Filter Component "manage multi-level fields data"? What am I missing? Is the sole purpose for the Google Map itself?
For example, I'm following instructions for the Location in this article. https://www.joomlart.com/documentation/joomla-templates/ja-directory-template/module-configuration#k2-filter Why not list all the states under the K2 Extra Fields in a multi-select list instead??? The extra fields can still be filtered in a search module.
Fyi, I'm creating a very advanced members-only directory and want to make sure I understand the core setup before I get too far. The site is not published but my setup is quite a bit different. It will be a directory of people who have certain licenses in multiple states. I want to be able to search for certain licenses in certain states.
I'm still learning. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks very much!
