LESS to CSS not working in T3 (JA_Charity)

Hi there,

I'm running the JA_Charity template on Joomla! Version Joomla! 3.9.10 Stable [ Amani ] 10-July-2019 15:57 GMT, Joomla! Platform Version Joomla Platform 13.1.0 Stable [ Curiosity ] 24-Apr-2013 00:00 GMT.

The site has the T3 framework installed, which appears to be working apart from this issue. I'm not sure where to find the specific T3 release version, sorry.

The problem is that when I press the "LESS to CSS" button in the template admin area, the CSS is not updated. Is there a way to get the LESS to CSS button working?

Further, LESS was overwritten upon update. Is there a way to maintain LESS changes between updates?

The site uses two different styles: a home page style and a default style for all other pages.

The LESS folder for these styles is public_html/t3-assets/dev/toms.

Please let me know what other information is required for narrowing down the source of the problem.

T3 -assets folder is used for cache the css and less files.
If the compile is completed in template style option it means the less to css is done fine.
Kindly let me know which change you applied in less files that is not compile in css?
Also, fix the super user login, i tried the login you submitted in first post but its not working.

I've set the administrator account to have the same password as the FTP account. Please let me know if you have any issues accessing it now.

At the moment, literally none of the LESS is compiled. Because of this, I've had to keep the style in development mode. Visually obvious changes in the front end include:
Hyperlinks changed from blue to orange
Typeface

I need some details, like which change you applied in Less files that not showing when you compile less to css and turn of the Development mode.
Share the File path as well on which you applied the change.
T3-assets is not a folder to apply changes.
You can find the less files under /less folder.
best way to apply the style changes in Theme magic.

Apologies for my slow responses, I've been away.

I've been editing the files in "public_html/t3-assets/dev/toms" as this is what the website uses to render when in development mode. In the attached screenshot you can see that this is where the development mode css file is located.

Am I correct in assuming that the development mode files are not able to be applied permanently?

If this is the case, why on earth is there a development mode? I've just spent days customizing the website using development mode, but it seems as if this feature is solely included to trick people into wasting time. Name literally one purpose for the feature (if it can't be applied permanently).

This folder is a temp folder only used to cache files.
You have to apply the changes in template folder /less. You can use ThemeMagic to customize the style of less files. and compile less to css.

Given that the development mode is not able to do so (seemingly the only thing it should be able to do) - is there a way to use the browser element inspector to find which file and line an element's CSS comes from?

If the development mode is OFF and css compression is also off you can see the path of the files via inspect element in browser.

Ninja This only shows the CSS location - I still don't know which LESS files they're generated from.

On toms.com.au a large number of the changes I need to make are located in the template.css and bootstrap.css files for the theme:
https://toms4christ.com/templates/ja_charity/local/css/themes/toms/bootstrap.css, and
https://toms4christ.com/templates/ja_charity/local/css/themes/toms/template.css

is there a way to tell which LESS files I can edit in order to keep the changes when the theme is updated?

Hi
You can apply changes in less file, it will not be updated on template updates.
Local folder is for overrides of template files.

It will be override the style only when you compile less to css.

Which LESS file will modify the .t3-sl class padding?

Open Less/variable.less files to change the core font size and colors.
Less files will be override as well on template update.
Its good to use local folder or custom.css file
OR you can use ThemeMagic tool
