The module assignment on the backend is done by Joomla, template only run the frontend part.
If the URL is external menu type, it would not work as its not an inbuilt menu item to detect the module assignment.

Let me know if this is not the case with some more details.

you didn't see module url assignment as you said
later cache cleared
module not selected so ıt looks unassigned but
now ı see it works properly
