add filter dropdown menu list

Hello,

I'm using JBusinessDirectory (https://www.cmsjunkie.com/joomla/joomla-extensions/joomla-business-directory) to manage enterprises listings.

On my directory page here https://www.lapeyrouse-fossat.fr/listing.html I want to add a dropdown menu to filter page results display like here : https://www.lapeyrouse-fossat.fr/actualites.html

I have sent a request to JBusinessDirectory support team and here is what they told me :

By default, the dropdown should be available. The pagination is usually handled by the template so please check it there. This is enabled directory on the template code, there is no option for it. The pagination is being handled totally by the template. Please contact the template provider. The default page mechanism should contain the dropdown

So do you know how to add this dropdown menu?

Hi toonetcreation

You can simply assign that page to Protostar template, it's standard template of Joomla and let me know if the dropdown is available there or not. If it's ready for Protostar, it will work fine with our template.

The protostar template does not show the dropdown by default.
It depends on how the template is implemented. On our templates we show the dropdown by default : http://demo.cmsjunkie.com/j-businessdirectory/directory/j-konnect/directory/links/catalog

Our template doesn't support this jbussinessdirectory by default so of course, there will be not override for pagination for this extension.

They already said that they override for their template so why they don't simply tell you how to achieve it? it's their own extension.

It doesn't make sense.

A component does not implement its own pagination system. It uses the actual pagination system that is provided by Joomla and overridden by the template.
The template has to provide a general pagination system that will be used by all components. You can have an example for a website that uses the templates from another template provider (yootheme) - https://www.industriaemobility.com/empresas2

As I mentioned above, our template doesn't override this pagination system. You can simply tell them you're using Protostar template, now how to achieve that?

If they already overrode in their own template, they can simply suggest you how to do.

Hi, In order to enable the select box, you will need to modify the template code.
You can find attached the layouts folder from our templates. Copy the joomla/pagination folder into your template. You might need to add also the CSS code for it.

Sorry for the confusion, I got it wrong.
As I mentioned before the pagination dropdown depends on the template that you are using. If the template does not provide this possibiliy then it will not be shown.
We can implement the changes in your template for $60. Please let us know if you are interested.

I don't understand either, they already mentioned that they've done it on their site in previous post, why they don't simply share with you? it seems that they want you pay for it. You can tell them you're using default Joomla template - Protostar .
