which squarely emphasize that new JA Page Builder will be previewed alongwith T4 framework 🙂

Let us please wait till the next blog update announcing the release as the blog announcement will consists of information related to design/performance improvement, new features, bug fixes e.t.c

@jackstall Please wait till blog announcement on the release as the same should "probably" emphasize on the migration feature. Will also share this with JA Dev. Team so as to have it for consideration with new JA page Builder

I completely understand and agree with your point as it becomes quite necessary to have potential "Migration feature" so as to ensure that all information, content, settings e.t.c remain preserved which basically amounts to long days of hard work staying intact 🙂

Have already shared the same with JA Dev. Team so that we can ensure the specific feature is duly taken into consideration

aman204 Excellent! Btw - I don't know where to post bugs and such but there are 3 things not working properly in the current version. Not that you can't live with it - it works well but these are things to be considered for repair ;-)

1) Migration of a whole website to another host... This has been an issue since the day #1 - if you use akeeba (or any other system) it rebuilds OK but all your Custom CSS and color settings are gone. Its usually not a huge deal cause you just copy paste the CSS from the old host but still...
2) It happens very often - you paste some block to a content and suddenly - the page builder says something like session has not been saved and reloads itself. From what I have observed it looks like its related to a new block being placed in content. It doesn't happen later during block editing (usually).
3) can't remember what it was so...probably not that important :-D

Yes, it should be possible to move to new builder as all the older blocks would be made available in new builder too. There is a major difference of bootstrap version and thats the reason we have to work on new builder.

We're now on the 29th August 2018 and we've not had a single worthwhile update in over a year, my subscription is about to end and I am not wanting to renew it at all. The current state is needing major updates and if I'm just going to be paying for the way it is now then I wont renew.

Bootstrap 4 isn't that dis-similar to BS3 so this can't be holding you back this long. We want an ETA one that you're going to stick to, and as a gesture of goodwill I would like my subscription extending to at least 1 month after this period.

If we can't do this then I'm definitely not going to renew my subscription as it seems utterly pointless.

And we're now on the 22nd September 2018 and we're still awaiting basic features to be added such as mobile / tablet / desktop padding variants without having to write CSS.

I personally think every paying JA Builder member needs to have their subscriptions extended to at least 3 months after the new release of JA Builder. There has been nothing but bug updates for a year and we need to renew to stop our clients sites from breaking (being unable to edit without subscription). I honestly feel like I've paid like £120 or whatever it costs for a complete waste of time. It's far from complete and needed to be updated weekly like Divi or something. I've even been considering moving to gridbox, but the thing that's stopped me is that JA products are really good once they're complete - but it's a matter of when now, I have approx. 3 to 4 websites to build each month and can't reasonably use JA builder any longer on my clients sites.

The reason I can't use it on any of my new sites is because the builder needs a major upgrade to include some basic functionality, here's a short list:

Mobile / Tablet / Desktop Separate Styling Options - We need to be able to change everything from padding to background image etc for each device.
Heading Sizes - You can't change the heading sizes to your desired px height anywhere without CSS
Mobile Menu Styling - Yup, we can't change anything without CSS
No CSS Editor - We are reduced to writing CSS in a blank notepad format, really sucks, needs to be like notepad++ or at least have markup
Backgrounds - Some blocks allow images, some do not, it's pot luck on the block selection
Block Style Copy - We need to be able to style one block / element then copy the styling and apply to other blocks / elements
Block Library - We have page library, but no block library so you can't import your favourite blocks

I could go on, but these are just an example of some really basic elements of a page builder.

I wonder if we'll ever get an answer, or if we'll all be forced into renewing every year until they bring out the new version.

It also annoys me a bit because the page builder is actually pretty good apart from the obvious missing bits. They have a great tool in the making, they just don't seem to be making it any longer...

Yes... Agree with you completely.. I just finished a website where I had to write additional 1500 lines of css... to be able to use it...

Hi,

This is an official response on the state of JA Builder:

As I have said few times earlier too, there is a major difference of bootstrap version in current and upcoming builder and we would want to support the new builder for one version of Joomla only. The current builder is saas model based and need communication with our servers for loading new elements and while it has its own merits but based on user feedback the model is not practical, so the upcoming builder is standalone.

The new builder will have all the blocks and library supported by current builder, so that users would be able to move to new builder easily.

If there are any bugs in the current builder, we will fix them on priority but feature requests will be released only with the new builder.

We expected Joomla 4 to drop in by now but it is still in alpha. We will release the preview of T4 and New builder as Joomla 4 goes beta / RC stage.

Hope this helps you guys, looks like I will be jumping ship to another page builder as I can't use a company that seems to buy up other companies and not care about existing products or customers as it impacts my customers and what can be offered to them.

9line Hi. I do not understand what in this post makes You think we do not care about products or our customers. Since there will be a joomla 4 released soon, we already have most of our products ready to use it and working on some more. Technology moves ahead and soon joomla 3 will be left behind same as previous versions, so it's normal we will stop developing extensions for this branch and focus to develop them for J4.

Joomla 4 wont be main stream for 6-12 months after initial release as most other extensions, plugins and templates wont be compatible, this in turn creates issues for my clients as their sites can not be updated to Joomla 4 until everything else works.

While I appreciate that you are aiming to support Joomla 4 from release, other companies that offer page builders have confirmed that they will be allowing their latest versions of their page builders to work on both Joomla 3 and Joomla 4 to allow users to run it on what is required. Two of the other companies I spoke to, add new features monthly and if customers suggest a feature they would like to see, it takes them 2 months at the most to add it.

As for my comment about not caring about your products or customers, we have been left in the dark about this and have had to constantly chase for updates on the latest version and the updates to JA Builder itself has fallen behind, when JA Builder was originally release, it was fantastic, at least once a month, new features, new blocks and bug fixes would be pushed out, then at the end of last year, this stopped and it took 3 months before an update was released, then another 2/3 months for another update.

I am sure a lot of JA Builder users will agree with my comments above, Joomlart use to be a great company until you started buying up other companies and it seems you have taken on too much and cant provide great products like you use to be able to!
