I have a question regarding search engine optimised menu creation Joomlart mega store template

there is a mega menu and there is a main menu I want to be able to compare both of these which will take precedence in search engine URL generation I mean to say weather the Mega menu is more important in Search Engine Optimisation or the main menu for example virtuemart menu created in main menu (categories menus to be created under shop menu) are more important from SEO standpoint?

which URLs would take SEO precedence if both menus are created?

I think it will depend on the technique you're using for SEO on your site as you can see the main menu simply shows up all main menu items for navigation of your website.

While as the name of the categories menu of left side, it displays all categories pages of your shop. So which one is more important will depend on your SEO works, not the place of these 2 menus.

saguaros Look here is what i want:

I want to use VM categories as menus (will create VM Category menu)
I want to be able to use mega menu on the left side

Now I should create only mega menu or is it OK to create VM category menus under the Shop menu of top menu bar? Duplicating VM Categories menus, under shop main menu and under mega menu will have any SEO issue?

As you know URLs are generated based on menus and VM categories, so my question is, is it safe to created duplicated VM category menus under shop menu as well as left megamenu? How search engine crawler will interpret these two kinds of same category URLs? Or should I opt for only one to be safe?

Hi warylad

You can have the main menu with megamenu type only, the left side menu is a menu module.

If you want to show any menu item of the main menu in the left side menu, instead of duplicating the same, you can use 'Alias' menu item type of Joomla so that you will have 2 menu items but keep the same URL.

This relates to the SEO and Joomla, pls try to post the same question into Joomla forum for better help.

There is a menu called Category Heading under parent categories menu, how can we stop this menu from adding a keyword into the URL?

e.g.

Parent category -> Laptops
Menu Heading -> Performance
Child menu -> Core i3 Laptops

Now URL generated is like /laptops/performance/core-i3-laptops

How can we skip the /performance from it?

Ok i have one more question regarding this..

if we implement JA megafilter on the shop page of this template, then JA megafilter will alter the URLs in any case?

e.g. when a filter is applied, will it change the URL?

JA Megafilter helps to filter only, when you click to view details product page of VM, it will keep the same URL as normal

saguaros I'm not talking about product detail page. JA Megafilter is applied at category view page and generates a URL something like

shop-main#sort=attr.cat.frontend_value&sortdir=asc&attr.cat.value=25&limiter=28&page=1

which is not really SEF URL, is their a compatible Joomlart extension or 3rd party to implement JA Megafilter that keeps SEF friendly category structure like /parent/sublevel1/sublevel2 style of categories (like in category menu of JA Megastore Template) intact?

What it practically means is that whenever the filter is applied on the category view page, the URL should remain that of SEF friendly category structure. How to achieve that?

That's URL of filter page only, if you navigate to category page or product page, it will use the URL structure of VM menu item.
