There is unexpected issue with the update of this template specific so you can't update via JA Extensions manager at this moment.

We suggest you to backup your site, then download the latest version of this template: https://www.joomlart.com/member/downloads/joomlart/t3-framework/t3-blank

and install directly to your site.

Next time, you will be able to update via JA Extensions manager.

Again, remember to backup your site first.

Ok now we have another issue. It's not the same website. The other 2 were fixed on updating the template. We update T3-blank to 2.2.8 on this last one though (this is t3 blank, not t3 bs blank like the others). That went fine. But PHP still won't go above 7.0 without breaking and showing this on the front end: 0 - Using $this when not in object context.

We tried to update to the one that says for Joomla 3.9. But there is no evidence that it 'took' the update and applied it. Is there something else we have to do to make it install?

You mean that error appears with PHP above 7.0 version? as I can see your site is using 7.0 version now.

You can switch to the version that I can replciate the same issue and share the ftp account, I will take a look.

Looks like it didn't take the first time I reset the password. Sorry about that. I've reset it again and retested and it's working for me now. You are on our whitelist.

I still can't access cPanel on your hosting so I use Akeeba backup to take a backup of your site and check on my localhost.

Firstly, I switch to PHP7.3 and see error right on homepage.

Then I made a test by switching default Joomla template (T3 Blank) to Protostar - standard template of Joomla: https://prnt.sc/qqtzdn

but the same issue happens.

Which means that the error doesn't come from T3 Blank template, maybe one of your 3rd party extensions is not compatible with PHP 7.3. You can disable them one by one to see which one caused issue.

You can try the same on your site.

Thank you for all your help. Inspired by your answer, I finally was able to stick it on a dev site. It looks like there was an old default joomla system plugin that was still enabled after it outlived it's usefulness. plugin - system - favicon. Killing it lets the site use PHP 7.3.
