Adding the Basics to the Doc's

I would like to see some basic additions to template documentation. Currently, it seems to be focused on creating a site that looks like the demo site. Personally, my goal with each new template is to modify it to meet my needs for a site. So, I need both the instructions for recreating parts of the demo AND clear instructions for customizing several key elements that get changed on every site I install.

I need hints on how to:
-Customize the logo font and text.
-Customize the footer.
-Customize the social links.
-Set one of the multiple, optional layouts as the home page.
-How the various menus are structured. (If I delete one menu item from the demo, does it destroy the home page?)

Basically, I need clear information on making a quickstart page into my new site. Having all of these things in one place would save me hours of rooting around in different places to find where the options are being set.
