Is there any plans make this template more mobile friendly? According to google its not very mobile friendly. While the score was in the 80s for peforming on desktops the score was in the low 50s for handheld devices.

This template should be mobile friendly, did you test speed with your site or our demo site?
I tried it wiith my site. the speed wasn't great and the navigation was kinda tight.

You can try testing with tool like google speed insights, it will report in details how what issues are.
When I tested it on google insights one of the flag was that the characters were too close together and the load speed.
Pls check the details of the report, it will guide you how to resolve.
