I cannot for the life of me figure out how to change the word "Filter" to something else?

I also can figure out how to remove the "0" next to customer service?

You can change the word 'Filter' by overriding this language constant: JGLOBAL_FILTER_LABEL in Backned > Extensions > Languages > Overrides > and add your own value there: http://prntscr.com/k0nikl
For the number, it's number list of contact, you can copy the attached file to this directory: root/templates/ja_simpli/html/com_contact/featured/

Note that this folder doesn't exist by default, so you will need to create this path.
