Note on the attached that I am seeing some discrepancies I can't make sense of.

J2.8.10

blue_shift update: if I add a <br /> after the introtext the truncation is fixed, but there is no way the content staff running this site will remember to do that.

      blue_shift Hi,

Having tried replicate the relative issue, The option to truncate text with Character Count appears to be reflecting fine. Kindly review screenshot wherein I have set it to 95 character count and the same reflects fine for layout items

paulus1031 In that location, no - but this is a Polish-themed website, and Latin-extended is selected.

aman204 But when I set it to 125 characters, I don't get the one last word of the latest item ("president," and interestingly, the article doesn't load when the item is clicked.) Screenshot of behavior at 125 words:

paulus1031 that's the correct link, but I get no article. (For half an hour, I turned off sh404sef and that link worked fine, which may be when you checked it) but the store component then failed. There are routing issues related to the stores component and canonical urls, and the developer has more work to do on their customization and implementation. So I would mark this as, well, not actually resolved, but not a JB or ZT issue at all. 🙂

sends a shiver down the spine with shf404sef and urls 🙂 - been there with that one

Get back to us if need further assistance

        Cheers
        Paul

paulus1031 unfortunately, in terms of sef urls, the directory component doesn't work without sh404sef, so we're stuck with it. (this is clearly a deficiency of the component we are using, but at scale, all directory components and templates range from functionally useless to terrible; the one we are using actually works at scale so we need to struggle through.) purging the urls in sh404sef successfully resolved the issue with articles.

edit: the issue with truncation still exists. 'round to whole word.' seems to cause the issue.

Yes purging the urls is an option for a new site - gets a bit problematic once the site becomes mature

So with the truncation the same problem exists for this one article and the truncation works if the url is purged?
