MegaFilter not showing all sub-categories (J2Store)

Hi,

I spoke to Niki via email before we purchased JA MegaFilter to check if we could use it as we hoped.

We have a printer ink and toner website using J2Store.

Each ink or toner item is linked to a category - this category is the printer model the ink or toner will fit.

So our category structure goes:

Main Category > Ink
Sub-Category > Manufacturer
Final Sub-Category > Printer Model

The products are linked to the Final Sub-Category.

However, I can't see in JA MegaFilter setup how to create that filter? I have tried a few settings and I am only seeing the Main Category.

Any advice is most welcome: info attached to the post as requested.

Hi Chris,

Do you mean that you want to show all the Final Sub Categories in the left sidebar filter?

Hi, yes ideally, however I had thought these would be available as drop-down selectors in a top horizontal module instead of tick boxes/selectors - otherwise the right hand filter will be immense and probably too large 🙂

1st drop-down to select ink/toner
2nd drop-down to select manufacturer
3rd drop-down to select printer model

Is either possible?

Hi Chris,

By default, if a sub-category has item to be filtered, it will show up in the filter bar.

saguaros Many thanks, it doesn't look to be working that way, not sure why 🙂 There are LOTS of sub-categories though, the category structure is huge to accommodate all the printer models.

It turns out that you used a 3rd party extension 'CW MCats' to create multiple category in J2Store. However, JA Megafilter can support with default categories of J2Store only, it doesn't support CW MCats yet.

Ahh that is a shame, from talking to Niki from your staff, it seemed it would work.

Hi Chris,

JA Megafilter will work well with default categories created via J2Store, maybe when you asked Niki, you forgot to mention about CW MCats which JA Megafilter doesn't support.
