Change color in slideshow navigation

In the owl slideshow on my Front page, I need the navigation arrow and the frame around the arrow to have a darker color, because my background image is pretty light.
I also wish that they can be visible not only in the hover state, but all the time in a different color.
I have tried to do so in my custom css, but have not had any success.

You can use this css and change color to your desired one:

.owl-carousel .owl-nav > div::before {
    border: 1px solid #fff;
}

.owl-carousel .owl-nav > div i {
    color: #fff;
}
