JA Image Hotspot won't save my edits - need some help

Hello,
We're using JA Image Hotspot, and are experiencing some issues. I previously created two image maps, and both were working. We changed our site URL, and I now need to change each of the links on the two image maps.
1. The link in the link box opens a new window by default. Where can we change this to open in the same window?
2. On one of the maps I have about 100 links. I want to update a link URL that we specify inside the Pointer Text area using <a href>, but after I make the change and click SAVE, I get an error message "Save failed with the following error: the content exceeds allowed limits." The change appeared to be saved, anyway. But after I closed and re-opened the Marker Control tab, my changes had not been saved.

As I mentioned, these links had all been working before, and I have not done anything new except to change a link that was specified in the Pointer Text box.

Thanks for the tip for opening the hotspot link in the same page - I have passed it along to our CTO.

Apologies, but our site is under development and our CTO has asked me not to provide access to 3rd parties.

The module was working previously. Recently, it has stopped allowing changes.

I tested the Hotspot again.

In the Hotspot module, I changed one pin/link in the Settings > Marker Control tab. Clicked Save. Got the error message.
Without exiting the module, I closed and opened the same pin, and saw the change was there.
Closed the module. Opened it again. The change was not there - everything was back like it was before the change. I suspect the change was only stored in the cache.

Also, I tried duplicating the modules.

Duplicated one of the Hotspot modules, which has only a few pins - success.
Duplicated the other Hotspot module, which has 99 pins - "Error - The content exceeds allowed limits."

Also, this might be useful information for your team.

"Save failed with the following error: the content exceeds allowed limits."

I looked up this error online, and found a reference to someone else with a Joomla site having the same error (but with a different program, SP Page Builder). They said that the latest version of Joomla counts the size of modules differently, causing it to exceed the allowed limit. The person with the issue said "it seems the content length of a module is enforced differently than before."

That person has tried changing something from TEXT to LONGTEXT, but that had no effect. He also said his temporary fix was to break up the SPPB module into several smaller modules. (But it looks like he broke something in the process, so it doesn't sound like a real fix.)

Question: We would still like to change the content of the Pointer text. Can you tell me how we would manually edit the database, in this case?

As I mention in my first post, kindly share the login info of your site so I can see the issue and help you out.

I understand that you would like the credentials, but as I said we have a site under development, a high security site, so we do not have that option available.

Question 1: Is there a way to edit the database directly, and if so, could you provide the filename / location?

Question 2: Are you aware of the issue with Joomla sites getting errors now, regarding the content length of a module? I was hoping that your new version 1.1.6 would solve this, but it did not.

Also, all of our pins disappeared from the front end after the update. What can we do to get the pins to display?

Q1: I don't think there is file name to change this

Q2: This relates to Joomla issue, it prevent to save too large module content > 65535 characters.

It sounds like the product is not compatible with more recent versions of Joomla. It also sounds like you have no fix for the issue. Which versions of Joomla with the product still actually work with?

As I described above, the image maps cannot be saved.

I had set up two image maps on our website, and they were both working. Recently I needed to change links on the image maps, and was not able to save the larger of the two maps - with the following error message:

"Error - The content exceeds allowed limits."

Searching online I found that there was a reference to Joomla having a new restriction on the size of modules. I am not a programmer but I am guessing that because one of the maps has many markers, it is bigger than the new Joomla restricted characters you mention above "module content > 65535 characters."

I suspect that we created the 2 image maps before the new Joomla module restriction, then updated Joomla -- and now, the module(s) are too large to be editable using JA Image Hotspot. I do not know if this is the issue, however.

I cannot edit the modules now, at all. This is why I was asking how to edit the records, directly.

Also, the two image maps now do not display any pins, either, only the background image.

Any suggestions are welcome.

As I mentioned above, if there are too many content for a module, Joomla can't handle it.

I have the same problem, at least it appears to be the same.
I use JA Image Hotspot extension version 1.1.6, Joomla version 3.9.8.
During adding image markers, I reach the maximum number of characters.
the error message is created when I press the <save> button in the backend in order to save the module.
the english error message is:
"Save failed with the following error: The content exceeds allowed limits"
The error message in german is:
"Speichern fehlgeschlagen! Fehler: Der Inhalt überschreitet die zulässige Anzahl von 65535 Zeichen."

I already extended the DB fields
- table 'modules', field 'params' from MEDIUMTEXT to LONGTEXT, and also the
- table 'modules', field 'content' from TEXT to MEDIUMTEXT.
The problem still remains.

I checked the table 'modules', field 'params' content and it has currently 65360 characters. each new marker consumes between 900 and 1050 characters during saving. For me it seems to be quite sure that with the next pointer I exceed the 65535 limit.
you will find all data of this DB field in the appended txt file. you will notice also a series of 'imgid' entries with a lot of '1' characters in the ID. where does this come from?
I have a series of questions:
- Is this limited within the module?
- can I extend/break this limit?
- Where does the series of '1' in the imgid come from?
- is there any workaround in order to override this limitation?
- will Joomla4 help me?

Where does the restriction come from and what can I do in order to solve the problem?
