Can't get the quick start to look like the demo site

I've created a menu selection of Home News, but what I end up with doesn't look like the demo site at all. I must be missing something, but the docs are not very comprehensive.

I follow the guideline to create "Home Time" layout. But "News 12 - Lead- Articles category module" creation part are not clear. I didn't get a same result as demo site although I have followed the step by step guide.

Can you provide more detailed guidance regarding this matter?

I have given you the URL. Go to the site, look at it. It doesn't look like the demo site. I have followed your limited documentation and it still doesn't look like the demo site. I have given you the information to login to the site.

The whole point of a quickstart is to not to have to recreate it from scratch. Yet, that seems like what you are telling me to do.

I want it set up so that when someone goes to pcpcdev.com the News layout appears, not the layout that appears now. I only want to see the News demo layout.

If I could have sorted it out myself, I wouldn't have asked for help.

If you want to set any page as default page of your site, simply go to that menu item and set it as default page.

In this case, go to Admin panel > Menus > 'Topbar Menu Left' menu >> and set 'Home News' as default page.

O.K. That gets what I want when going to the site, however, when I click "Home" on the main menu, it goes back to the demo layout. And, I don't want that Top Menu to show when someone goes to the page.

And when I click Home News from the main menu, it takes me back to a different layout.

When you set 'Home News' as default page, you can disable the 'Home' menu item if you don't want to show.

I want the Main Menu only. But I can't get the "Home" or "Home News" to load the main page that loads when someone goes to the site. The two selections load different pages, the main page that I want.

Let me explain a bit here:

You are having 2 menus with the same menu items:

Main menu: you have: Home / Home News / ...
Topbar menu left: you also have Home / Home News / ...

The default page now is 'Home News' in 'Topbar menu left' menu but you're showing 'Main menu' on frontend (not 'Topbar menu left' menu) so when you click Home or Home News items, they are items in Main menu and they looks different that default page because some modules like 'Brick' module is assigned to 'Home News' in 'Topbar menu left' menu only.

So what you should do now is deciding what menu you want to keep, if you want to use 'Main menu', you have to set the default page for a menu item in this 'Main menu'.

Then assign modules to the correct page.

Again, the documentation above lists out all modules on homepage already. Pls follow it.

So, basically, the "Quick Start" isn't a quick start. I've used dozens of Quick Start templates over the years, and didn't have to manually add modules to them.

And, I'm not "showing" anything. What appears is what I got when I installed the "Quick Start." Your quick start shows two menus that work differently. I didn't create that mess.

You are telling me I have to reverse engineer your Quick Start and change stuff to make it work.

Your "Quick Start" has cost me five days of going back and forth with you.

Normally, a template doesn't support multi-purposes like JA Good, you can simply add your own content to replace sample content of quickstart package. This template supports various layouts : Games / News / ... so there are many menus like that. If you only need 1 layout like News, you have to remove other menus / content ... that you don't want to use. The team spent much time and effort to create sample data for this template and it's not a mess.

We also provide guideline for how to replicate demo site of each layout, you can follow it.
