Why I as a customer do not renew the license for the first time after many years:

On November 7th, 2019 I renewed the Jomsocial Pro license for 119.20 USD to get the promised 6 months Support & Upgrades for another 6 months.

What did I get the next 6 months for my money?

A single revised version 4.7.6. That's it! Stop, not quite! Instead, lots of emails about some updated Joomlart templates that I'm not interested in at all and for which I didn't buy a license.

I get the impression that I am co-financing the development of Joomlart Templates with my money, although I am consciously investing in Jomsocial. A single upgrade within 6 months for 120 USD is a joke in my eyes!

It is a great pity that Joomlart suggests regular updates/upgrades from Jomsocial Pro for the high price of 120 USD/6 months, but in the end the customer gets a single upgrade in half a year.

    Thank you for your sharing. We are sorry for less releases in the past months. We are working on a new version that will be released in the next 2 weeks.
    We are also working on a new roadmap for JomSocial and there will be regular releases with new features, improvements and bug fixes.

      But what does a long-time customer like me, who received a single update for his 120 USD within 6 months, have to gain if a new upgrade is released all at once in two weeks after 6 months (end of license for getting updates etc.)?

      Do you think that customers in a similar situation will have a great after sales feeling?

      I think for anyone who get expire this month, we can provide 1 month of membership extend so they can gain the new release and can upgrade to the new version.
      I hope it could help in someway.
      As mentioned, we are working on a roadmap and will release updates regularly.

        Now I wonder where I can download the new Jomsocial Pro version?

          Yeah, new version of JomSocial coming this week. We are doing final round of testing. It should be released this Tuesday or Thursday.

          Wow! So after 8 Months from the last release we got today " JomSocial 4.7.7 Joomla social community extension for bug fixes" !
          I have to tell you, i was excited some time ago when you promised a release. I said to myself: ok, its been a few good months, but at least we will get something good now. New features. Something new and cool.
          Today we receive ..."bug fixes"?

          Guys, if this is it, then you sure have no respect for us. And for our money. We work for them, too, btw.

Since we plan to update regularly now we figure that the most important update (bug fixes) should be released first, things like new features can wait until later. New features take a lot of time to test to make sure everything comes together perfectly so we hope you guys can be understanding of this.

              I don't want to be misunderstood, but let's face it:

              Because of these handful of bug fixes we had to wait NINE months?

              That doesn't make any sense for loyal customers, because of a renewal discount of a few Euros to renew the license for Jomsocial every 6 months. After so many months, a few new features would have been appropriate.

              I get the impression that Joomlart is no longer focusing on the further development of Jomsocial.

              That makes one sad.

              Some time ago I had already pointed out that new features like a global image gallery for photo contests or ratings etc. could be such a special feature. A 1:1 clone of a certain community platform cannot stand out by special features.

              sorry, but I cannot share your opinion at all! Because from the point of view of long-term customers it makes little sense to pay expensive renewals every 6 months, which ultimately only contain minor bug fixes, instead of new features (e.g. global photo gallery for photo contests etc.) or at least the realization of features that work according to expectations, such as events and missing reminders.

                I can understand your feeling. We have plan for new features that is added in the Roadmap here: https://www.jomsocial.com/features/road-map
                Recently, we also have to start on the Joomla 4 upgrade that is a big work as you know, Joomla 4 is totally new and JomSocial is a big component with many add-ons.
                We are trying to get more work done, I hope we can get your kind understanding.
