I build a lot of sites in ZGF and am wondering if there is a roadmap with future waypoints for the platform? (One assumes stabilizing the lost-settings issue would already be on the tracker, as well as an intuitive way to create subtemplates.)

The thing I like most about ZGF is that it allows me to create entirely custom sites in Joomla, so my clients get the benefit of Joomla's component architecture. I can scale a site with light staffing needs (read: affordable at a time when Farcebook has nearly broken the internet), making SMB's wary of investing resources in larger sites.

Hi

At the moment the roadmap is for zengrid is that it will be ported to Joomla4 along with the other J3+ templates

Lost settings is a tricky one as it can have many causes - some outside of our control e.g.

security extensions that impose restrictions on the template e.g. Admin tools or shf404sef (for security reasons they lock down the template)
or
Server hosting resources / stability of hosting environment

With "intuitive way to create subtemplates"

Do you mean duplicating templates in the admin?

    If not can you elaborate?

Zengrid is very flexible with positions - this is its biggest strength and also its biggest weakness as it is more resource demanding

    • - Facebook are now facing a different world privacy wise

Although it is clear tech companies have still not learnt their lesson e.g. gmail allowing app creators to read emails without users consent

Template wise JoomlaBamboo will start releasing new templates once Joomla4 is released / stable
As this will mean the framework is updated at the same time

    Cheers

paulus1031 if we could actually save our settings, then we could reload them. But when I save settings, they never appear in the list of available settings. Ever.

T3 has a 'Save As' option that instantly creates a usable copy that can be renamed and deployed as a subtemplate. Completely reliable and have used it many times. I have no idea what 'Save As' does in ZenGrid. There is never anything there afterward - and there is some convoluted language in the documentation regarding 'child themes' but my conversational Greek isn't sufficient for me to make any sense of it. They look like foreign-language instructions for flushing a toilet on a submarine. 🙂

I only use sh404sef on one site. (never again.) for hosting reliability, everything is on siteground.

    Hi

Do you happen to have the link for the page you referring to in regard to "toilet flushing on a sub" 🙂

    Cheers
    Paul

Buildr works a little differently that T3 and by its nature isn't easy to duplicate

    1. Name your own preset to something unique
    2. Name your layout to something unique
    3. Note down the template id number for the template style

With these you can copy files in the \templates\buildr\settings in the config and layout section
json file id references the template id number e.g. template style id 61 is config-61.json

I do appreciate this isn't very user friendly but this is currently the only way

      Amazing toilet instructions 🙂

All about pressure I guess - wonder how many people avoid going to the loo 🙂

      Cheers
      Paul

Unfortunately that is the only way - it is relatively simple once you do it a few times

      Hello,
I reopen the debate, is there a roadmap for Zengrid? Zengrid Framework 5 has not been updated for almost a year and has not evolved.

Do you plan to integrate Bootstrap 4?
Do you plan to optimize loading of the template editor which is very slow?
Do you plan to integrate new options?
It would not be a bad thing to update us on the evolution of the framework ... if evolution there will be ...

      Many thanks,

      Lorenzo

      Hi Lorenzo,

Thanks for your interest. As Paul mentioned above, still need to wait for Joomla 4 stable release first. And at this moment, the team is working fulltime on the T4 framework. Once it's done, the team will have plan for other products also.

There will be blog post for these updates accordingly.

      Regards
