Please upload the zip file under JomSocial > configurations > Templates.
If there is a theme already existed in the same with a different name/version that can be issue to re write.

Ok I have got the theme installed, how do I get it to have the same top menu as per your demo https://js-column.demo.jomsocial.com/

P.S. Unfortunately my client purchased a Pro Subscription, so we do not have access to use JA INTRANET
I really like https://js-column.demo.jomsocial.com/ as the menu works well down the left side on mobile device

You can use the theme on any JA template but get a Joomla template view you must use same template as JomSocial theme works only for JomSocial component part, the header is part of Joomla template.

Sorry I don't understand how do I get it looking the same as the demo including the top menu bar (JomSocial, All Events All Groups ...)

What template must I use?

Joomla template and JomSocial template both are different things.
A Joomla template work all over the site.
JomSocial template will work only for JomSocial area, the Header in the demo is not JomSocial area its JA Intranet template.
You need to install JA Intranet tempate to get same view.

Joomla template and JomSocial template both are different things. I do know that! its not what I was asking.

So to get https://js-column.demo.jomsocial.com/ looking and working like the demo you need to have JA Intranet and in order todo that you need to be a Developer Member,
if this is correct then your website is misleading and selling false advertising no where does it say you will need JA Intranet. This will piss a lot of people off including myself.

No its not misleading, please check your question is not for the JomSocial part, the theme is for JomSocial area.
I can help you to resolve if its issue in the JomSocial part, as the JA Intranet template is a different membership plan that is something i could not help you to give in current plan.

JomSocial theme will work same as expected there is no issue to get JomSocial are like demo.

Yes i can help you to make it like in demo, but if you looking for JA Intranet Joomla template view, you have to install it first and i will help you to get like in demo. As this is not JomSocial part
its Joomla template that will give you a different view, You installed the JA Intranet template.
Configure the menu like in this doc : https://www.joomlart.com/documentation/joomla-templates/ja-intranet#menu-config
And you will get same view for Joomla template.

can it be done without using JA Intranet? as my client is not willing to pay another $200 to upgrade

Sorry its not something easy as that is template features and it take a lot of custom work to built same feature in your template that is something out of support scope.
