Update jquery

Hello.
I open this topic to know how to update the jquery or if it is advisable to do so. I have been testing the optimization of the page with the webpagetest.org and I think that the version of jquery is 1.12.4 and that I should update the version. I looked at how to update the jquery and was to edit the file jquery.min.js. When I did this I saw that the site had some problems loading the page, the module I use to view youtube videos did not load them and the administration was not smooth. So my question is how to update the jquery or if it is advisable to update it.

There can also be a conflict with the cache because when you first go to the page it takes a long time and if you move between pages, it loads quickly over time. But as I said this happens since I modified the jquery.min.js file and although I edited the file again to leave it as it was with version 1.12.4 it doesn't go with the fluidity of before.

Update the file that is in /media/jui/js/jquery.min.js and copy what is in https://code.jquery.com/jquery-3.5.1.min.js
But when I did that I saw that there were problems with some modules and I put it back to version 1.12.4.

This is core file of Joomla, not the template. We must support that version unfortunately.
