Hello,

I am wondering if someone can help please? I am using the News Show Pro GK5 module on my homepage. I have a question regarding the quality of the thumbnails. I have set the 'Thumbnail quality' to '100%', but it looks blurry. If I disable the 'Create thumbnails' option, the quality looks much better, but when I run a pagespeed report, it says that the images need to be compressed to make the site faster.

Do I have any options whereby I can have an excellent quality thumbnail (a good small size), without jeopardising the speed of my site?

Thank you in advance,

Prit

pritmadlani Try to add this to custom css field or override.css as per documentation here

    .frontpage .gkNspPM-ProductGallery2 div img{width:auto !important;}

Kindly ensure to clear your browser cache if changes dont reflect

pritmadlani Kindly let us know if the relative topic has been resolved so as to mark the thread as resolved or need further assistance on the same 🙂

Thank you for your message. I have added this to the override.css, cleared the browser cache and checked, but it still looks blurry (please see the attached file). When one of the thumbnails are clicked on, you will be able to see a larger thumbnail, but it will appear much better quality.

    Thank you,

    Prit

pritmadlani Kindly review again as I am unable to see the suggested css code added.
Ref: Screenshot wherein I have tried adding the suggested code through debugging tool and the images scale appropriately to their original dimensions and appear fine

aman204 Hi Aman - thank you for getting back to me. I have now added the code and cleared the cache, but it does not seem to have any impact on the quality of the thumbnails. Am I missing something?

Thank you for all your help.

pritmadlani You may check now. Had to disable System - JCH Optimize being the culprit and not allowing specific css rule-set to apply

You may instead try to use Joomla core caching option as outlined in redirection links here and toggle in-built optimize features to enabled in template settings --> advanced settings

Thank you for spotting that - 2 quick questions.

          1) when I click on the above link provided, it says 'You need a valid subscription to view replies.'
          2) should that css code also make the images clearer on mobile devices?

Thank you for all your help so far - it is much appreciated.

            Hi Prit,

At the moment I can see the image size being 200px x 200px and enlarged to 271px x 272px - at the moment this image is being enlarged on the desktop

If an image is enlarged it can look blurry - it is also enlarged on mobile

            Cheers
            Paul

            Hi,
Prit, you can set your thumbnails dimenstion to 271px x 272px in News Show Pro settings or (as Aman suggested - add the following custom css code: .gkNspPM-ProductGallery2 div img {width: auto!important} - I can't see this code on your website now...

            Cheers
            Joshua
