It's weird that I don't see any module type of 'Articles - Category' module in backend of your site now, are you sure it's 'Articles - Category' module?

ok I found the problem, "active" class is added to the first li tag only if "Use URL Rewriting" option is NOT active (when index.php is in the URL)

It turns out that the module you're mentioning is 'Articles - Categories' module, not 'Articles - Category' module.
Articles Categories module type will display a list of categories from one parent category - not list of article as you mentioned in first post.
ok whatever, why this class is not activated when "URL rewriting" option is enabled? How can I activate this class if I can't do it through jQuery?
