JA Mitius bug after upgrade to 1.1.9, running under PHP 7?

I've done an akeeba backup and restore on a secondary domain to use as a development version of the site at worstgig.com. This dev version of the site is primarily to get the site updated for use with PHP7, which my host is insisting I upgrade the site to. But I'm running into some issues. You can view these issues at worstgig.mattbechtold.com (the dev site). I've updated Joomla to the latest version, and that went pretty smoothly. But now the main-content div isn't displaying content (even though the article is published).

AND, it looks like you've done another quick update from 1.1.9 to 1.2.0 since I upgraded. Is there an easy way to get to 1.2.0 from 1.1.9?

Are there known issues running JA Mitius under PHP7? Please let me know now, and how to avoid them, if so.

When I set my .htaccess file on the dev site to force the use of PHP7...

AddHandler application/x-httpd-php7 .php

The site totally breaks. Screen goes white and displays the following error:

mark('afterLoad') : null; // Instantiate the application. $app = JFactory::getApplication('site'); // Execute the application. $app->execute();
I've changed it back to using PHP 5.6 for now, so you can view the other error. My hope is you'll be able to help me sort out both of these urgent issues.

Another final update before I await your reply...

When I try the following line in my .htaccess, the site displays the featured article ONLY, no other site design elements for menus, etc.

AddHandler application/x-httpd-ea-php72 .php .php7 .phtml

So that isn't working either. But slightly better than before.

Password added to the original post. When logging in, Joomla's administrator tries to go to worstgig.com/administrator rather than worstgig.mattbechtold.com/administrator. So you have to use the back arrow to get past the login screen. Perhaps this is part of the issue. But I thought I'd mention it, so don't end up looking at the old site.

While you're in the administrator, could you also please look at the slideshow (JA Slideshow Lite) on the homepage and figure out why it's only pointing to worstgig.com when you click a slide, rather than going to that slide's content? If you need a separate ticket for this, I understand, but I'm hoping that while you're there, you might just check it out. I probably just need an upgrade for this module, but I first want to get Joomla and JA-Mitius working together properly, before I dig into module updates.

Ack... it appears that none of the content is showing on the dev site. Path issue maybe? For example:

The UI is there, but no content displays in the ja-mainbody.

You're using so old version of Joomla and PHP, it's highly recommended to upgrade to latest version of Joomla and PHP 7.

Could you backup your site and upgrade the test site first?

My version of Joomla is current on worstgig.mattbechtold.com. My version of PHP on the server is 7.3. The site only works using PHP 5.6. IF I don't force the version of PHP in .htaccess to use 5.6, you get what you'll see when I set the AddHandler to 7.3 in .htaccess: a broken site that ONLY shows the content (ja-mainbody) of the homepage. Nothing more. (I've done this so you can see it. Please correct the user-error, which is undoubtedly mine).

So yes, I had set the site to use PHP 5.6. It was the only way to make the site mostly work. That's why I need your help. Because my ISP would very much like me to update to 7.3 also. (The point of my original post.)

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear in my previous post. I HAVE enabled the error. If you're looking at the DEV site at https://worstgig.mattbechtold.com, you should see the error.

I have updated the login information to include FTP userID and password that you can use.

Please help me resolve this quickly. Thank you.

I've tried removing the $live_site variable from the configuration.php and putting it in as: https://worstgig.mattbechtold.com. Neither did anything to improve things.

I then tried changing my .htaccess for the standard joomla one. This brought back the template, but now the ja-mainbody content is blank again, and the slideshow lite module is missing. Progress, but not totally fixed yet. Still, this makes me believe that most of my problem is .htaccess releated. I'll continue digging.

It seems I can either get the UI of the template to show, OR the content of the site to show -- but not both. I'm at a loss. Please check in soon.

I found the issue, it relates to the layout of template only.

As I can see that the home menu item on your site is assigned to the default template style of JA Mitius template which uses 'home' layout.

However, this 'home' layout doesn't include the 'component' main content block of a page so the content did not show there.

I just updated this file:

ja_mitius/tpls/blocks/mainbody-home.php

and added this line of code:

<jdoc:include type="component" />

just below the message section.

When I look at worstgig.mattbechtold.com, the site is still only showing the content of the homepage -- none of the template's user interface. Or was there something I was supposed to do with the information above? It is clearly not fixed yet.

I only did what I said I did.

But I have since gotten tired of this issue and tried taking another backup, and starting over. It has since worked much better. I won't be needing your help on this ticket any further. Please consider it closed.
