I would like to add a breadcrum module to the shopping cart of the site to make it easier for users to orientate, but couldn't find a suitable module position to place such a module within the shop menu items.

Okay. I tried that, but it made no difference. Also, I noticed, that the position 'navhelper' did not seem to be an available selection.
andrewwinkler Hi Kindly check the position is showing and you assigned it to the shop pages. I you want to move the position up you can move the navhelper position code from file "/tpls/default.php" in template "ja_diner".

I got the breadcrump to show on the shop pages, but not quite I wanted them to be. 1. They are displayed at the wrong spot, below the cart items, and 2. they are shown twice, even though I have created the module only once.
It's all good now. Thank you very much. I took so long to get back to you because I decided to replace j2store with hikashop.
