Hi .. After running site on 4.7.6
and trying update to 4.7.7 but had bug issues so went back to 4.7.6
which worked fine but thought would see if you had sorted issues with 4.7.7
by trying 4.7.8

Now I cant load any version of JOMSOCIAL as hangs at this stage
Updating JomSocial database
Updating theme

Please advise as have this issue on two sites now.

Thanks

    Hi
It can be due to lower PHP limits.
Kindly fix the super user login for staff in Edit fields options http://prntscr.com/vsiq2q
Username and password do not match or you do not have an account yet.

Hi.. Have you had a chance to look into this yet? added login details
    Cheers

      Hi
I got the details and working on it.
Kindly increase the Memory limits value to 512M and max execution time to 300 from PHP limits on your server.

Update : Latest version of JomSocial has been installed on your site.

I don't think I have access to those settings? How did you do it.
Is it something you can do in joomla control panel or jomsocial?

      Thanks

        Hi
You can ask your hosting provider to increase them for you. They are required to increase when your site has more traffic and need more resources.

Thanks.. I will do.. but I am interested to know how you managed to sort it out as know you did not ask hosting company to change? I will face this problem on ten sites and know asking hosting company to do this is bound to be a problem.

So if there is another way. It would be useful to know?

Also while I have your attention is there a way to increase/change font size of the text for viewing more comments. (show previous comments) as very small on all sites...

        Thanks

Hi. This is regarding the installation issue. There is no problem found in installation. On your site it might be timeout issue due to low executions time. In 2nd attempt it's installed normally.

For new topic question kindly open a new thread with question subject.

          Regards

I have spoke to hosting company and due to being on shared servers there is no access to PHP settings.

I have another domain which I am trying to update with same problem

Maybe tried 20 times with different versions of Jomsocial and versions of PHP (UPTO 7.4) same problem wont load. (did the same with trucksafe)

So I don't understand how you managed to get it to load.. Did you just get lucky or use some other method?

Does the htaccess file have any effect?

          Cheers

            Hi
It might be the low PHP values as there is timetout before the installation complete.
You need to increase the max execution time and memory limits in this case as the package installed fine on minimum server values too.
Are you trying to install fresh install of JomSocial on your new site or you are updating from older version to new version. Both cases are different.

If its older install there maybe DB error on your previous install that hangs it and due to low PHP value there is timeout.

I have been using jomsocial for over a year - not had a problem with fresh install yet..
Although only load 7.6 (7.7 had other issues which reported so never bothered updating
on more sites - but did install ok)

All these hangs are on updates, never had a problem before with same host.
And all are after trying to upgrade to 7.8 -

As said I have another site I am trying to do same update on and can never get past
a certain stage (sometimes different stage) and this is after trying 7.8, then cant reload older
versions either.. without it hanging too.

As asked a couple of times I don't understand how you managed to update this on Trucksafe,
on the same server, with low values, when I could not, and still can't on another site with exact
            same problems.

How did you manage to get this working???
Was it just luck? did you change/remove something? or able to skip something?

Thats really all I want to know, an answer to those questions above. before I make decision on
moving to another host. But all has been ok with this host before, up until trying to load latest update 7.8?

My thinking is that 7.8 may cause trouble/changes with data base - then when try to go back to old version
wont allow it because of these changes.

I can give you access details to this other site I have same issue with which I have tried over
50 times to make work, thats why I cant see that you just got lucky sorting this one out.

            Cheers

              Hi
I can not give an info as I said there is no error found yet. Also I got same issue like you on your site when I tried first install. It's not luck it's execution of command and process to complete it. Sometimes if it stuck depends on server speeds as well it not goes to next step.
One way u can try only if it not stuck on Database on fresh install as DB must be installed without any error. Is type in url :
              ?option=com_community&view=installer&task=plugins

This command will move you to next step for install plugin. But make sure you should not try this if the Database step is not completed.
This step was not applied on the site login you submitted.
              Hope it's clear now.

Ok please put site back to 7.6 version as now had a look at effects of upgrade..

I cant do it as hangs at first process...

I have included a couple of screen shots of layout changes that do not display right (remember lost R)

              and
menu logout position reversed from old version.
