Another update from Joomla, the version php8 create a lot of problems.
Cannot Create articles or view existing articles
First timer and Joomla newb here. Apologies if in wrong forum. I searched this site and Google but didn't find any helpful resources. After a fresh install, I tried to create an article. However, when clicking "new" in the administrator Control Panel, I get the following error:
An error has occurred.
0 Unknown named parameter $name
The same error appears if I click on one of the existing articles that are included when you populate your site with sample data.
My install details:
CentOS 8.x
Apache
MariaDB
Php
Joomla 3.9.22 (I did update one of the extensions when notified in CP, but don't recall which one)
Hello,
Reinstall the core files of joomla.
Go to components --> Joomla Update --> And click on button Reinstall Joomla core files.
After that look at Extensions --> Manage --> Database --> And click of Fix button
Finally, you clean up your browser en website cache
Look then of the problem is solved.
If you can get to the main administrator control panel screen in Joomla the action log should tell you what extension you updated.
Regards,
Thank you so much for the response. I did as you suggested and tried to re-install the core files. I then got the following error:

Hello,
maybe the values to low of your server setting.
Put the code below in your .htaccess
CODE: SELECT ALL
max_execution_time = 120
memory_limit = 128M
Clean your browser en website cache and look of you can update normally 😉
Thanks for responding again! Unfortunately, I have made these changes in /etc/php.ini based on other posts in the forum. I verified the settings in CP>System Information so I know they were read by the Joomla server.
I did see that I am running PHP 8.0.0RC2 could this be an issue? Are other users on this version of PHP?
Thanks again for your time!

Yes, that can be an issue because a new major version of PHP can break some existing code.
'RC' in the version means Release Condidate, which is meant for testing and not to be used in production. According to the information available at Joomla! Issue Tracker - CMS, Joomla 3.9.22 does not support PHP 8.
I agree with @toivo about venturing into PHP 8. According to the information posted at viewtopic.php?t=974206, it's possible (but not necessarily probable) that J! may be adapted to work with future stable versions of PHP soon after they are released. This begs the question whether J! 3.x will be adapted to work with PHP 8 but, given the sunset clause around J! 3.x, I suspect that it won't. However, it's an odd-on favourite that J! 3.9 will never be made to work with PHP 8; maybe something for J! 3.10 (or even a J! 3.11 even though there's no such idea on the table).
All,
Thank you so much for taking time to respond. I have reverted to PHP 7.4 and all is working as expected now. The AJAX issue and the original issue when creating Articles is resolved. Lesson learned today that sticking to stable releases is best even when creating test/dev systems!
Looking forward to learning Joomla and getting into templates!
