I am using featured articles on home page of our website with 2 sidebars. I would like to know if there is a way to add a module in that position (instead of featured articles) and still have the 2 sidebars?

In the content area - where featured articles are showing now, this template supports to show position-2 there by default, you can assign that module to position-2 position, it will show up above featured articles section.

This is a seperate question but I need to refer to the image I posted above. Is there a way to make the main content area wider? So the main content area fits to the ends of the header image?

In template >> Layout Configuration >> try to setup the container option as you wish.

For safety sake (after being hacked) not sure that is an option. Can you tell me how to do this so it doesn't get changed with a template update or is there documentation you can point me to?
