Submenus of Offcanvas menu never collapse back in mobile view

I noticed that in current T4 version any submenus of offcanvas menu in mobile view can be open up for next level (when press on triangle icon), but never collapse back in original state after press on triangle icon again

look at any new templates demo, like JA Atoms ( https://ja-atoms.demo.joomlart.com/ ) or T4 blank demo.

but it works for example in old template demo JA Stark (https://ja-stark.demo.joomlart.com/). Seems it use old T4 version

I hope you can find this bug and correct it.

Hi alexhaha

In JA Stark, the parent menu item of the dropdown menu has menu heading type so you can click to open.

I've also reported to the T4 developer to improve on this.

BTW, in further testing I noticed that aria-expanded="false" even after sub menus are expanded.. (in ja-stark aria-expanded="true" if sub menus are expanded) Probably it can be a hint for you... Anyway, we need a solution.. Any ideas for temporary solution?

Also during tests with various pre-saved versions of T4 I saw that sub menus worked well till version 1.1.0. Version 1.1.1 already had some problems with sub menu collapse.

Yes, I've reported to our T4 team so kindly wait for the update and testing before it's released.

And I tested your demo, it is the same..

Ninja dear pankaj, this issue isn't depends on template or plugin, it's bug of recent T4 versions, 'cos prior versions of T4 had no such bug and worked well. I started this thread as T4 bug, and saovry see the same bug with recent T4 (and yes, he use simple T4 Blank) His picture isn't illustrate it good, better to illustrate it with video

I wrote about your Stark online demo just to illustrate that it's working on your site just because your demo use old T4. If you check the same demo on recent T4 versions (1.1.3, 1.1.4) - it will have a problem.

(1. click on any 1st level menu to open list of 2nd level submenus 2.try to click it again to hide 2nd level submenus 3. nothing works.)

and thank you dear saguaros for compare page, later I'll try to figure which changes in T4 caused such bug with mega menu collapsing in mobile view.

I hope, alltogether we will solve this problem to make T4 more perfect again

Wanna add some new thoughts. I noticed that collapsing of 2nd level submenues working till T4 1.1.0, but in the same way pressing on menu title of 1st level never move you to link, just show or hide 2nd level menues - the same you press on menu title or triangle icon. From T4 1.1.1 2nd level menues never collapse on pressing triangle icon or 1st level menu title, BUT you will move on link related to this 1st level menu. In some way it's better - link is working but collapsing in never working now.

What I think - you need to make different behaviour when you press on 1st level menu title and triangle icon (showing/hiding 2nd level menues). Pressing on icon - show or hide 2nd level menu. Pressing on 1st level menu title - go to link (and do no show or hide). Hope it's possible to do?

And Note - I changed Pages to link instead just menu heading and it's was the same situation anyway.

Plus I think all problem is related with base.js in plugins/system/t4/themes/base/js, section marked as "// fix for multilevel dropdown" and "//fix menu click when show all dropdown element". Maybe it will help your developers to solve it faster. Thank you in advance!

alexhaha Thanks for your feedback, yes, I think he will try to implement the same: click the icon to show the dropdown as the menu item may have link so it will redirect to destination page instead of opening the dropdown.
