Radically simple layout?

In creating a super-simple layout for some pages, how would I directly publish the "mainbody/no-sidebar" block, skipping the unneeded PHP queries to look for sidebars? In this instance I won't be using the template layout. I'm working right now in JA University, but the answer to this question will apply across all your products. Thank you. -Jim G.

In T3 the sidebar layout is defined via PHP module position in the tpls/blocks/mainbody folder
There are different type of layout defined that has sidebar or no sidebar layout. If you are using a layout that has the sidebar position used for module it will load as sidebar.
